About this festival

The tradition of the oldest early music festival in Estonia was started in 1982. This is the festival of the majesty of the historical city and musical works lasted over the centuries. The festival concerts are held in the churches and different concert venues all over the city. The festival emphasizes the importance of working with children and youth incorporating young musicians into the performances, like medieval mystery "Ludus Danielis", Monteverdi's opera "L’Orfeo", Greek-mythology based "Zeus and Europe" and Purcell’s opera "The Fairy Queen" to name but a few.
The artistic director of the festival is Neeme Punder.
